Cranleigh Loop

There had been some frost overnight, however everything was surrounded in fog. I chose a local walk looping around Alfold and across to Cranleigh, then returning on a direct route to Loxwood before finishing on the usual routes.

I left home and walked through the village down to the Lane, then taking Ifold Bridge lane to the canal.

Following the tow path up to Gennets Wood bridge, then across to the bridleway around Oakhurst farm and up to Rosemary Lane...
Over the lane and up the path labelled as Sachelhill Lane. I stayed on this up to Sachel Court driveway.
Then following the Dunsfold road along to the three compasses pub.
Taking the footpath down the side of the mobile home park and over the field at the end.
Through the rough ground to cross the A281 by Fast Bridge. Then along Alfold lane until I could turn down the driveway to Holdhurst Farm.
Through the farm, and along the road through the back towards Knowle park.
Up the end and down to Knowle lane. Then following this into Cranleigh and the high street.
Through the village and the suburbs ending up at New Park.
A sharp turn around some construction work then through a wood to reach B2128.
over this and down a path that led to Vachery Lane.
Along the lane as it gently curved around fields.
When the lane turned sharply towards Vachery pond, I continued to go under the Downs link.
Beyond the bridge the path continued diverging away from a farm track through the fields around Hammer farm.
The path continued to a junction with Knowle Lane.
Back towards Cranleigh so I could pick up a driveway just behind Waterbridge farm.
After Waterland, the path crossed a field and into Birch copse, where it meandered around the Rhododendron bushes.
Over Wildwood Lane and down the drive to Little Wildwood farm.
Into Wildwood copse, and then climbing up to Pallinghurst farm.
Over the A281 and across the horse field beside Horton farm. Then along the path that was cleared for the WACT Poddle.
Down past White Lea to Males farm - my feet had now got soaked from the dew on the grass.
An "S" shaped track through the fields leading to the Sussex Border path.

Now on paths that we very familiar leading down to Loxwood. In the mist was Black Down to one side and in front was the south downs.
Down into the village and across to the new shop, before going down the "renovated" path behind the shop to the back lane.
Down to the canal at Devils hole lock, through the adder field and back to the house.
