Dinefwr park Stroll

We had to take the van out of storage and ensure the van battery did not go flat. This time we visited the National Trust park at Dinefwr, just outside Llandeilo, and went for a walk around the grounds.

The main house in the park was closed for renovations, but the car park and grounds were open, as well as the castle ruins.
It seems that various organisations run different parts of the estate - the castle is CADW, the castle woods is nature reserve, and the house is NT.
We parked up and got our ticket, then down the path to the castle. This drops down to cross the stream and up the other side with views of the castle showing through the trees.
The castle rising over the woods - castle woods - the home to a number of protected and re-introduced natural species.
Around the loop through the woods and across the ridge to the castle entrance.
Looking across from the entrance.
Looking out from the perimeter wall, the river to one side the big house to the other.
Back down from the castle woods and along Bog wood .. aiming for a big loop around to the big house.
Around the Mill pond past the pump house.
Up through the deer park, to the big house. The path is constrained to only the marked paths.
Back to the car down the drive where there was a collection of fairy houses in some tree stumps.
Just a short walk, before heading off for some lunch. Then to take the van back to its berth.
