Time to escape from the endless house move "stuff" arranging, finding places for all our bits and pieces. I looked at the local walks book and derived a route around several of them from our front door.
When this bent around the path continued down a fence .. the path had been ploughed over several years ago and now it was a walk through the overgrown grass field. At the far end of several fields, I found the exit through the hedge onto a ploughed field, with the path set to one side.
The path leads to more pasture fields (again no marked path) and around the edge of a wood - Parks wood.
Around the wood and into a scrubby field with some harrow marks. Across this to a stile on the far side beside some trees.
An overgrown green lane then led between fields led to a gravelled track that led up to Eccles green village.
Turning onto the road from the village hall to pass Calver Hill house. Along here is the entrance to Davies meadows.
Into the nature reserve and following the obvious footpath staying to the right and through to a second field.
Across the field to pick up the footpath along the side of the reserve and hence our to the A480.
Along the side of the road to the Three horseshoes pub.
The path then goes along the right-hand side of the pub - through an ominously looking double gateway, and a field beyond the buildings, to a kissing gate into a bean field.
Following the edge of the beanfield and through another gate to grassier fields. The path drops down the side to a path crossroads, where another kissing gates leads right.
After the straight path meets an end then I followed the hedge around until I could turn across the field and down to a gate. Through the gate and down a second field to the back road - Pig Street.
Along the road past a dismantled railway bridge through a farmyard.
Following the road up to Norton Wood hamlet passing the sign to Ernie Gilbert reserve (closed to the public).
Staying on the road to Hurstley.
Just past the farm and a sharp bend I looked for the path crossing the field to my left ... eventually finding the stile hidden in the hedge.
Across the stile and the dry stream to follow the edge of a crop field, to a gate in the opposite corner.
Through the gate and over a grass field to a kissing gate next to a normal gate.
Along the side of an Apple orchard in a dog leg before crossing a grass field - again no path to a stile on the far side.
This leads into a young orchard with a diagonal path through it to the back road beyond beside the demised pub - Kinnersley Arms.
Along the road to Lower alley farm, and down the side of a house to an unkept path along a stream bed.
This came out into pasture leading to Lower Alley farm.
The path signs get lost int he farm and I found a way down beside the chicken sheds and into the solar park beyond.
Into the crops field where I just followed the tractor trails as there was no obvious path. This led to an open field ( I assumed was Sturts nature reserve)
Over the fields to the hamlet of Ailey, and a back road.
Some steps up a steep bank - heavily overgrown, led into a grass field. The path crosses this, but it was so overgrown that there was no sign.
The next few fields were much the same but I could follow the tractor trails and open gates to avoid the broken stiles and bridges.
out onto the back road and up tot eh A4112 at the main Kinnersley village centre.
Over the road and down a path through a garden.
Across the meadow beyond to a small gate in a corner - not the obvious one with the mown path.
Then I went down the side of a field.
Across the crop field to the white house and onto a back road. Opposite is a second house with the path through the yard.
This path turns into a green lane between apple orchards.
down this track to the buildings - the path was supposed to veer off before them but was not obvious.
From the buildings I took the continuation of the path through younger orchards - again parts were obvious others not so.
At the edge of the orchard I struggled to find the bridge to the opposite field - due to the path getting changed in the trees.
Now back on the trail from the other day - I knew where I was going and so headed off through the bean field.
Then back beside the chicken sheds to the A4112, and home.
