Sizergh Castle and Park

As we left to begin the journey home we took the road towards Kendal. Sizergh castle was on the way, so we stopped to have a looka round and then go for a walk around the estate and gardens.
We arrived as the gates opened, only to find out that the house itself would not be open until 12. Plan B ...  around the gardens first
Effectively a circumnavigation of the castle, then back to the reception area to look at the map of estate walks.
Setting off on Sizergh Fell walk - first through the car park then over the fields towards the obvious rise.
Up over the ridge and slightly down the far side, turning along the ridge and slightly downhill.
more downwards into a valley, before turning along a hedge line. This is the second side of the triangle.
the final side of the triangle was  a return along a farm track that mutated into a gravel track as it got closer tothe car park.
A short break for lunch, which allowed for the castle building to be opened. We took a whistle stop tour of the rooms, before the drive home.
