my aim was to walk back over the hills following a shorter version of yesterday's walk, taking in the knott and tower.
I was dropped at the hotel adn walked over the railway bridge and down the driveway beside it.
At the first path junction I headed into the woods up a series of steps.
The path climbed through the woods in a parallel track to the one from yesterday.
Then a sharp turn and things got steeper climbing up onto the ridge, where it shallowed off again.
Finally up to the tower, and its memorials. These were quite hard to read in the light.
Back down to the main path, continuing along the ridge.
Then into the woodland trust section and staying on the forestry roads as they zigzagged down to meet my path from yesterday.
Back along the major track to the edge of the forestry section, into Great Knott wood, as well as another bobbin monument.
Finally back through the sheep pastures to the village and on to the barn.
Two walks today - although shorter than usual.
This would be our last night in this barn as we all headed home tomorrow. However Sue & I planned to take in another location on the way.
