We decided to return to Austria and then do a bit of a reconnaissance over the border into a part of Switzerland we had never been to - namely the Engadin and then come home through the Davos region.
Due to other influences Chris dropped out and Bryon had to delay for a day from the original time frame, so we eventually set out for Dover on Sunday lunchtime.
The drive down was uneventful and we were at the port waiting for the ferry. The queues were not large so we were soon on the boat and settled into a front row seat to watch the crossing.
At Calais we speculated on the berth number before being called away .. only finding out which one as we left the boat.
The security was not as large around "the Jungle" as we left the port and there was little traffic as we headed into Belgium until we had to fight the queues around Brussels, before pulling into the Ibis budget in Liege for the night. Dinner was in a pizza restaurant around the corner a ways - the closest place was closed for Sunday.
The following day was spent driving through Germany on the Autobahns ... one lane at 60 mph and the other at 600 ... overtaking in the van was a case of hoping they were awake. We had a Clive Cussler talking book to keep us sane!
Once in Austria, we picked up a vignette for 10 days at the first garage - not that we were sure to use it, just to be on the safe side., and dropped down into Imst ... A slight deviation through the town, just to see it and we were soon at our residence for the night - the Romedihof backpacker hostel. - we were the only residents and had a room for three over looking the road outside. However much later we had a solitary person in the room next door, gone before breakfast.
Dinner, we already knew was best at the Inn down the way - Gasthof Neuner. Last time this was a good place for a feed and this time was no different ..
