Steph was home on a visit whilst in the area for an event in Hastings, and while she & Sue went off to Wellcross Grange to see Barbara, Bertie and I decided to walk around the Wey South path and meet them for lunch in the Bat & Ball at new pound common.
We left the house and headed through the village to take the path down to the canal. Along the canal then to Loxwood and the underpass below the B2133.
Along the canal towpath passing Brewhurst, and Baldwin's Knob locks until we reached Drungewick lock and Aqueduct. Here we left the canal and followed Drungewick lane passing the manor and kennels. Still following the Wey South path (the canal route is not complete around here) we took the path through Drungewick Copse. This was parallel to the original route of the canal but half a kilometre away.Into the fields leading to Malham farm, first ploughed and sown the next grass. Through the farm yard and out along a lane heading south and into more grass fields. The path here cuts further away from the canal as it turns around Smale farm initially alongside a grass field, then in the woods
We left the Wey South path here as it continued down to Newpound collection of businesses. Across the B2133 once again and into the woods and fields beyond. After a couple of fields we dropped and tuned onto a green lane that then mutated into a drive way passing between Howfold and Stroodland farms. The driveway ended at Newpound lane opposite Fisher's farm park, where we turned back towards the B2133 and the pub.
We were slightly early so sat outside for a while to cool down then moved inside to escape the chill wind, and wait for the other two to arrive back from their visit.
