A shorter walk to day as I was also planning one for tomorrow, however I could also use it to explore options for a future AAC walk. The idea was to park in Wisborough Green and head across to the Guildenhurst Bridge on the Wey and Arun canal. Next follow the canal across the A272 at New Bridge onward to Love's bridge and then along the lane to Okehurst. On the back roads to Copped Hall farm, before turning across the fields to Tedfold, hence the playing fields and a bridge over the A29. Through the residential estates of Billingshurst to Jengers Mead, over the High street and into the Hammonds. Turning into the new residential areas beside the old windmill remains and down to the railway line. Through the industrial estate to the stations , over the level crossing and continue past the Weald school grounds. Over the A29, through Lordings woods to Lordings lane, continuing down to the canal at Lordings lock. Along the canal to Harsfold bridge and up to the farm of the same name, before the final lane back to Wisborough Green.
I parked beside the cricket pitch in the layby and walked up to the churchInto the fields behind the church heading away from the village. Over a lane and into a field of young bullocks who followed me expecting food.
Finally escaping from the cows into a grass field with a turn to keep away from the road. It eventually curved back to touch the A272.
A permissive path led along the hedge line to join the road at a layby. There was supposed to be a similar path on the opposite side, but this was overgrown and I had to walk down to a stile. along side the mown field to the canal trace (just a ditch full of bushes at this point).
Along the canal to New Bridge and over the A272 once again.
Continuing on the canal past the lift bridge, and throguh more cows - this time they ignored me.
On passing the half restored Rowners lock, and reaching the end of the tow path at Love's Bridge (Beyond here the canal does not have public access).
Turning towards Okehurst over the river and following a green lane up to the farm.
After some buildings the lane was gravelled and continued to the Okehurst road beside some buildings. I then followed the road to a junction and a sharp turn to Copped Hall farm.
Beside the farm I turned onto a footpath, that crossed several horse paddocks and onto a green lane heading towards Leyhold hanger.
Through a small wood and out into a pig field with numerous roaming beasts. An evil path over a stream with muck heaps everywhere I climbed up beside the houses of Tedfold.
After the houses the path crossed a horse paddock, then another grassy area before crossing the boundary woods into the recreation ground area with cricket and football pitches.
Over the cricket pitch and up the ramp to the bridge over the A29 into the outskirts of Billingshurst.
Through teh residential area to come out behind Jenger's Mead. A short diversion into the bakery for some bread, then continuing down Little East opposite. At the end into a tree copse with several paths, taking the one up and round into the Hammonds.
Past the remains of an old Windmill down the side of new developments, over the A272 and into the ones opposite. Down a lane to Little Daux farm, and into fields that led down to the railway line. Here a foot crossing took me to the Great Daux farm and the industrial area there.
Along the road through the industrial estate to the south bound platform of the station, and over the level crossing. Down the lane opposite the booking office and onto the path around the playing fields for the Weald school.
Through the residential area of Parbrook and over the A29 (this involved climbing some overgrown steps up to the road, rush over and through some more overgrown brambles into the woods opposite. The path meandered through the woods and past the entrance to the Sewage works then into Great Lordings Wood.
Leaving the wood and over Lordings lane (B2133) and down the driveway to Tanners Farm.
The driveway led to a grass field that climbed up a slight slope to give views across to the wooded Mens area. Down the other side through a recently mown field.
Down at Lordings Lock and its restored water lift pump.
Continuing down the canal to Harsfold Bridge (passing the tidal gates on the way). Turning away from the canal to climb up to Harsfold farm.
Up the driveway after the farm to climb to Wisborough Green, crossing the A272 opposite the church. Along the road past the Thee Crowns and back to the cricket pitch and the van parked up .
