High Dam Tarn

I was up early and since I knew everyone else would be emerging slowly over the next couple of hours, I chose to go for a short walk.
Another of the local walks - this one up to High Dam, a tarn above the village. I did not think I had enough time to do the Finsthwaite heights as well so it would be an out and back trip.
Out of the barn and down the road leading to the snack van car park, where a large sign showed the walks in the area.
Then up the track to the upper car park - this one more obviously pay to park, and the real start to the walk.
At the start was a sculpture to the bobbin industry - there is an old factory just down the road - with a relief map of the area.
And up the gravel track into the woods.
The track bordered a stream on the way up, sometimes on a vehicle track and other times heading more straight up the slope.
At a junction of paths and the stream crossings, I continued on the more direct route to the tarn.
Arriving at the dam end of the tarn and setting off counter clockwise around it.
The track followed the edge of the tarn and undulated with the terrain.
Reaching the far end of the tarn - where the path onward to the heights leaves - I crossed over a more boggy section on a boardwalk
Looking back down on the tarn from the high point of my walk, before continuing around and back down to the waters edge.
Around the side and back towards the dam, before veering off to take a more direct path down to the ascent route.
Cutting the corner off to arrive back at the complex junction.
On the way up I had noticed a path back to the village over the stream, so chose to return that way. This soon left the woods into sheep pasture.
A back into the village (passing some mobile holiday homes). The final section was down a driveway.
Back in time for second breakfast with everyone else.
